The National Communications Regulation Commission (NCRC) intends to reduce fixed-to-mobile call rates by 20% from UAH 1.0 to UAH 0.8, NCRC member Petro Semerei said.
Semerei said the NCRC wants to ensure that operators earn profit based on traffic levels rather than on high charges. He also said the NCRC hopes to encourage more calls from fixed to mobile phones through the reduced fees.
The State Committee for Communications and Information Technologies set a UAH 1 ceiling on the charge for calls from fixed to mobile numbers in September 2003.
