The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has developed a plan to establish telecentres in order to expand access to telecom facilities in rural areas, PTA Chairman, Shahzada Alam Malik, stated. Alam Malik said the PTA was now working to provide telecom services to un-served areas of the country so that teledensity would rise in rural areas to equal urban teledensity.
He emphasised that after issuing new operator licenses, the authority was paying attention to quality of service issues. He said, "we have issued important determinations on various issues, including interconnect, co-location and limited mobility."
