Government to auction two 3G licenses
Morocco’s government will auction off two third-generation mobile licenses in order to upgrade the country’s mobile services, the telecommunications regulator ANRT said.

Maroc Telecom and Meditelecom are expected to bid for the licenses, ANRT said. Each licence will cost US$ 40 million, with the networks expected to be operational by the end of 2007, ANRT Chairman Mohamed Benchahboun said.

With over 65% of Morocco’s population below the age of 35, the country’s market still holds the prospect of robust growth for operators.
