Senatel to decide on interconnection charges
Ecuador’s telecommunications secretariat Senatel is expected to determine the percentages mobile and fixed operators will receive from interconnection charges by July 15 if operators do not reach an agreement by then.

On July 5, Ecuador's telecommunications regulator Conatel approved the models to be used as the basis for calculating interconnection charges between mobile and fixed line operators. Mobile users in Ecuador pay US$ 0.20 interconnection charges when calling from a fixed to a mobile line, and US$ 0.50 for mobile to fixed calls.

Fixed operators Andinatel and Pacifictel and mobile operators Porta, Movistar and Alegro have not yet reached agreement on the percentage that each provider would receive.
