| Senatel, Ecuador’s telecommunications regulator, is working with consultants to determine appropriate fixed to mobile interconnection charges.
The consulting company Liliana Ruiz Consultores will conduct a study based on technical information provided by the operators. To date, all operators except Movistar Ecuador, the local unit of Telefónica Móviles, have provided the necessary information.
Senatel expects to implement the new interconnection charges by July 15. The new charges will be accompanied by new interconnection regulations. The current interconnection charge is US$ 0.29 per minute, of which US$ 0.23 goes to the mobile operator and US$ 0.06 to the fixed line operator.
